• 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 unsweetened chocolate squares (2 ounces)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla


Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt and sift until well mixed.
Step 2
In a separate bowl add eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Add in the sugar in 3 portions beating well after each addition.
Step 3
Melt chocolate and in a double boiler over hot but not boiling water. Once this is melted you will add to the butter mixture. Mix until well blended.
Step 4
Then add the flour mixture in 3 portions and stir until well blended. Finally add in the chopped nuts and vanilla.

Fold the mixture into a greased 11 x 7 x1 1/2 inch pan and bake for 20 minutes. Be careful not to overbake. Let cool and add frosting. (See Fudge Frosting)
